Bank Muscat issues warning following scam messages

Muscat: Bank Muscat has advised people not to succumb to fraudulent messages being circulated to its customers.

In these messages, which are often sent to unsuspecting people on WhatsApp, people are told that their ATM cards are being blocked, and are told to contact the number of one of the scammers.

The fraudulent message reads: "Dear customer, your ATM card has been blocked. Because you did not have an update yet. If you want your ATM card to work properly, then contact this number."

The scammers then swindle these people of their money before carrying out the same ploy on others.

Bank Muscat's statement on the same said: “Dear followers... we would like to report that these messages and advertisements are fraudulent and are not issued by the Bank. Please be careful not to disclose any personal information.”
