His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik arrived in Algiers today on a two-day state visit to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria
President Abdelamdjid Tebboune of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria led the welcoming party for His Majesty the Sultan. The Algerian President received His Majesty at the foot of the ramp in Houari Boumediene International Airport.
His Majesty was also received by some senior officials in the Algerian government.
After that, His Majesty and the Algerian President ascended the dais of honour as the Royal anthem of Oman and the national anthem of Algeria were played.
Then, His Majesty inspected the guard of honour, while the artillery fired a 21-gun salute to His Majesty the Sultan.
After that, His Majesty shook hands with members of the welcoming party from the Algerian side and personnel of the Sultanate of Oman’s Embassy in Algeria.
On his turn, the Algerian President shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty the Sultan.
Then, President Tebboune escorted His Majesty to the hall to hold a cordial meeting.
Prior to the meeting, heads of the diplomatic missions accredited to Algeria proceeded to shake hands with His Majesty and the Algerian President.
At the outset of the meeting, the Algerian President reiterated his welcome to His Majesty the Sultan, who expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to the President for the warm reception and hospitality accorded to him.
During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged cordial conversations and reviewed the deep-rooted relations between the two countries.
His Majesty the Sultan is accompanied during the visit by a high-ranking official delegation comprising HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nuamani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office, Abdussalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, Chairman of Oman Investment Authority, Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health and Saif bin Nassir Al Badaai, Ambassador of Oman to Algeria.
After that, the President of Algeria accompanied His Majesty the Sultan to the place of residency, where a contingent of cavalry from the Algerian Republican Guard lined both sides of the road at the entrance, in a manifestation of welcome and delight over His Majesty’s visit to Algeria.
