Jakarta: A tsunami warning has been issued in Indonesia after a strong, magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck off the country’s coast on Sunday (July 7), BMKG, Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency, reported.
The warning has sent panicked residents fleeing from their homes. The quake struck at a depth of 24km and was centred in the Molucca Sea between north Sulawesi and north Maluku, according to the United States Geological Survey. The North-Sulawesi and North-Maluku regions of Indonesia are most vulnerable to this tsunami threat. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
