Muscat: The Ministry of Education, represented by the Vocational Guidance and Student Counselling Centre, and the Directorate-General of Private Schools, are participating in the 24th edition of the Global Higher Education Exhibition (GEDEX 2025), which is being held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) in Muscat, between April 7 to April 9, 2025.
The exhibition was inaugurated under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, who, along with the attendees, toured the exhibition contents and listened to the educational services provided by the participating universities and colleges.
The exhibition includes 90 local and international educational institutions that provide their services to students and their parents to help them discover opportunities in academic and educational programmes, and to familiarise them with the various study paths, through direct communication with the participating academic institutions.
The annual GHEDEX exhibition includes a pavilion for local and international universities, a pavilion for technical education and vocational training (TRENEX), an Edu-X pavilion for private, international, and boarding schools, and an Edu-Tech pavilion specialising in educational technologies and resources.
The exhibition also includes the GHEDEX Innovation in Education Conference, training sessions and interactive dialogues, student projects for schools and universities, the GHEDEX Excellence Awards, a youth community section, and events that combine education and entertainment, such as the robotics section, drone technology, and the GHEDEX Student Talents event.
In regard to the Ministry of Education’s participation in the exhibition, Sheikh Yaqoub Al-Shuhimi, Director-General of the Vocational Guidance and Student Counselling Centre, said: “The Vocational Guidance and Student Counseling Centre is participating in a number of diverse educational activities in the professional, psychological, and social fields, and in the fields of scientific, literary and artistic educational activities, with the participation of 36 student companies from public and private schools, so that participants can be informed of local and international academic and professional trends that will contribute to planning to choose their educational programmes and specialisations according to future opportunities.”
The Directorate-General of Private Schools is participating in the exhibition to highlight the latest practices in private school education, enhance communication with various stakeholders in this sector, and showcase innovative experiences and modern ideas applied in private school education, which contribute to raising the quality of education.
The Directorate-General of Private Schools’ participation focuses on a dedicated corner highlighting the efforts of private schools in the Sultanate of Oman. The exhibition showcases the latest curricula, modern teaching methods, advanced educational facilities, and a stimulating learning environment in accordance with the latest quality standards, enhancing the status and vital role of this sector.
The participation also represents an opportunity for open dialogue between private schools, parents, educational institutions, and the private sector, facilitating the exchange of ideas and building strategic partnerships that contribute to the development of the education system.
Amro bin Abdullah Baabood, CEO of Arabian House for Data Analysis, said: “By organising the World Higher Education Exhibition in all its editions, we sought to make it a pivotal platform to support the education sector in the Sultanate of Oman, by providing an interactive environment that brings together students, parents, and educational institutions from within and outside the Sultanate. The diversity of accompanying events and activities, including conferences, training workshops, and student projects, contributes to achieving Oman Vision 2040 towards high-quality education and promoting innovation in the education sector.”
“We look forward to hosting a group of elite local and international educational institutions and contributing to shaping the future of education and training in the Sultanate,” he added.
He added: “Strengthening our partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, and the Ministry of Labor is an important step toward supporting the educational process in the Sultanate of Oman and benefiting from the exhibition’s various activities, which contribute to developing students’ skills and preparing them for the job market.”
