Muscat: Hundreds of Indian students living in Oman have completed the Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 board examinations which concluded for the 2024–25 academic year. Students across Oman, India and other countries appeared for the exams held over several weeks.
This year, the exams covered more than 120 subjects across the Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams. According to students and teachers, most papers followed the prescribed syllabus and maintained moderate difficulty.
In science, papers on biology and computer science were said to include a good mix of theoretical and practical questions. Commerce students found subjects like accountancy and economics manageable, while Humanities students described papers on political science and history as straightforward and concept-based.
CBSE had also introduced updates to the question paper format this year, with an increased focus on competency-based questions in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. These changes are aimed at encouraging critical thinking and reducing reliance on rote learning.
With exams now complete, the board is expected to begin the evaluation process. Students are advised to regularly check official CBSE websites for updates regarding result announcements. Results according to local media reports, are expected in May.
