Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has successfully foiled a significant attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs and 65,000 boxes of banned cigarettes into the Sultanate of Oman. The operation was carried out by the Coast Guard, under the Police Command of the Dhofar Governorate.
According to an ROP statement, the smuggling attempt was intercepted off the shores of Rakhyout. The contraband was being transported by boat from the Republic of Yemen. Three Yemeni individuals were apprehended in connection with the attempt to trade these illicit goods. Legal proceedings are currently being completed against those arrested.
