Chaos on the first day of Ramadan in Pakistan, thousands of families forced to fast without Sehri

Islamabad : MultipleOn the first day of Ramadan, chaos erupted in several cities across Pakistan, and thousands of families were forced to fast without Sehri. Ramadan, which is a sacred month for the Muslim community, began on March 2 and will last for 30 days. After this, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated. However, from the very first day, the gas crisis made preparations for fasting difficult for Pakistani families. The gas shortage deepened in cities like Karachi, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and others, forcing people to eat at hotels and roadside eateries.

According to reports, there was a severe gas shortage in areas like Rehfa Am Society, Malir, Nazimabad, Gulbahar, and Ranchore Line in Karachi. Residents of areas such as Sixth Road, Satellite Town, Dhoke Kashmiriyan, Dhoke Pracha, Service Road, Dhoke Kala Khan, Khurram Colony, and Sadiqabad in Rawalpindi also struggled with the same problem.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) had promised to maintain gas supply during Sehri and Iftar hours during Ramadan, but the ground reality was quite different.

In several areas, people were left completely without gas. SSGC had previously announced that gas supply would be suspended from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. during Ramadan. However, people claimed that even during the designated hours, the gas availability was not ensured.
