Ramadan evenings to discuss business challenges and solutions

Muscat: The Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) will organise four Ramadan evenings during the holy month of Ramadan to discuss a number of economic issues and challenges facing the business community in the Sultanate of Oman. Officials, experts and decision-makers will get an opportunity to give their opinions during the meetings.

The Chamber has been organising Ramadan evenings based on the role it plays in representing the private sector and enhancing dialogue with the public sector, thus providing an interactive environment that allows business owners to present challenges, solutions and proposals in cooperation with the relevant authorities.

The Chamber has worked to ensure that its Ramadan evenings programme this year keeps pace with a number of current issues of interest to the business community, and in a way that achieves the Chamber’s strategic directions related to improving the business environment, attracting investments, and expanding the base of economic diversification, which works to encourage innovation in economic solutions, raise awareness of policies and legislation, and support the growth of the private sector.

The first evening, which will be held on March 10, will discuss the importance of Expo Japan 2025 for the private sector by highlighting the importance of participating in Expo exhibitions, the specific objectives of the Sultanate of Oman Pavilion, the pavilion’s special economic events and programmes, and the importance of private sector institutions’ participation in this exhibition.

The second Ramadan evening on March 12 will address the regulation of the labour market and employment, the contribution of the private sector to the labour market, and the banking challenges facing workers and employers in the private sector.

The third Ramadan evening, which will be held on March 17, will discuss taxes and their impact on economic development, by defining the role of taxes in achieving financial sustainability, supporting financial balance solutions and taxes as a tool of financial policy, their impact on economic development, financing national projects and tax policies in the Sultanate of Oman, and their impact on the business environment and the development and growth of investment.

The Chamber’s Ramadan evenings this year will conclude on March 19 with a discussion of the economic importance of local content, during which the national strategy for developing local content will be introduced, as well as the importance of maximising the contribution of local content to the national economy and its role in developing small and medium enterprises.
