Hadatha Cybersecurity Hackathon begins

Muscat: Activities of the Hadatha Cybersecurity Hackathon kicked off on Tuesday. The event is organised by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, represented by Oman National CERT in cooperation with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Muscat.

As many as 49 innovators are taking part in the hackathon out of 165 applicants. The innovators represent 14 teams competing to come up with advanced technological solutions to tackle cyber challenges.

Eng. Badr Ali Al Salhi, Director General of Oman National CERT pointed out that Hadatha Cybersecurity Hackathon aims to enhance the Sultanate of Oman’s position as a central hub for cybersecurity and technological innovation.

The hackathon supports youth talents and offers a competitive environment that contributes to finding practical solutions for increasing cyber challenges. It will cover four main fields: artificial intelligence in cybersecurity, securing advanced technologies such as IoT and blockchain technologies, combating cyber-attacks and raising awareness on cybersecurity.
