Oman crime: Muttrah Souq stabbing case accused arrested

Muscat: A knife-wielding man wanted in connection with an unprovoked stabbing attack in Muttrah Souq has been arrested, according to Royal Oman Police.

An expat worker was stabbed twice on Sunday and ROP officers have confirmed that a suspect was arrested on Tuesday, according to a reliable source at Royal Oman Police. Police say they are now awaiting medical examination of the accused.

The police investigation confirmed that the cause of the stabbing was not planned and there was no robbery attempt suspected. The expat of Asian origin was stabbed in the Muttrah Souq area and he walked into Muttrah police station to report the incident. The victim has been transferred to Khoula Hospital and is badly wounded.
The victim works in an Abaya shop in Muttrah Souq. He was stabbed with a weapon in the chest and the right shoulder.
