Washington: The photo and video-sharing platform Instagram announced the launch of new features to improve direct messages functionality, enhance user experience, and facilitate communication.
The platform's owner Meta explained that the updates include the ability to schedule messages up to 29 days in advance, pinning three messages at the top of the conversation to ensure that important messages always remain visible, especially in group conversations.
The platform also added the feature of inviting friends to group chats using a QR code and message translations with support for 99 languages directly within the conversation, contributing to facilitating communication between users in different languages.
To enhance the sharing of audio content, users can now share audio clips within the application, listen to them directly, or send them to friends to listen to later without the need for external links. This feature is available in the list of stickers and animated GIFs.
Audio clip sharing will extend to "broadcast channels," which are public direct message inboxes intended for creators with one-way messaging to their followers, and it is not yet clear if other features will be included in these channels.
Through these updates, Instagram aims to improve the social media experience on the platform, which is witnessing a great turnout from young people and teenagers globally.
