London: British paper The Sunday Times has placed the Sultanate of Oman among the 29 Winter Sun Destinations in 2025.
The classification stems from a number of factors, including the Sultanate of Oman’s moderate winter temperatures averaging 23 degrees Celsius, in addition to the country’s diverse natural beauty, ancient history and Arab hospitality.
The newspaper commended the unique features that make the Sultanate of Oman an ideal destination for visitors who wish to enjoy warm sunshine during winter. It also highlighted the diverse tourist activities offered by the Sultanate of Oman.
Giving examples, the paper said that adventure enthusiasts can explore the Musandam Governorate, famous for its towering hills overlooking pristine bays of clear waters. It added that tourists can go on diving trips or experience the riding of camels over sand dunes in A'Sharqiyah Sands or enjoy camping in desert sands in an environment that reflects the authentic Omani culture.
The newspaper also highlighted the exotic beauty of the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, considered a haven for those seeking tranquility and relaxation. It added that the Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar boasts a set of picturesque valleys, stunning mountain views and refreshing cool air-- in stark contrast to the hot atmosphere in surrounding areas.
The paper added that, in Muscat, visitors can explore Oman's cultural heritage by visiting mosques, traditional markets known for the scent of frankincense or enjoying the view of the Capital city’s long coastline featuring a set of luxurious resorts, including the Shangri-La Resort that stands out for its world-class services and panoramic views over the waters of the Sea of Oman.
