Muscat: The Ministry of Labour (MoL) has announced an initiative to strengthen labour market regulation by expanding inspection operations through the Inspection Unit of the Security and Safety Services Corporation. The unit officially began its work on 5 January 2025, with the Ministry issuing a formal notice on 16 February 2025.
This initiative is part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to enhance labour inspection efficiency and enforce compliance with labour legislation. The key objectives include:
Strengthening labour market regulation.
Improving compliance with the Labour Law and its associated regulations.
Combating illegal and unauthorised employment while reducing violations.
Creating job and employment opportunities for the Omani workforce.
The Inspection Unit will oversee compliance with employment regulations, particularly concerning expatriate workers, under the supervision of the Ministry. Reports on violations will continue to be submitted through the Ministry’s electronic reporting system on its official website.
