Highlighting aspirations for professional excellence in Oman’s hospitality sector, a senior executive from Sheraton Oman Hotel has become the youngest industry professional from the Sultanate to successfully graduate from Marriott International’s prestigious General Managers Track Programme.
Justin Jacob, Revenue Director of Sheraton Oman Hotel, was the sole candidate from Oman selected for the Track Programme, conducted in collaboration with Cornell University, one of the world’s top-ranked institutions. Enrollment in the programme is by nomination only, with candidates chosen through a rigorous talent screening process. Justin was among 15 candidates selected from Marriott properties across the GCC.
The programme provides a comprehensive 360-degree assessment, featuring coaching by industry-renowned speakers and culminating in an on-campus immersion experience. It focuses on developing critical competencies and skills essential for success, while also enlisting graduates in a talent pool for potential leadership placements.
This latest qualification adds to Justin Jacob’s distinguished career, which spans over 14 years across the hospitality sectors of India, Kuwait, the UAE, and Oman. With over 20 awards and nominations to his name and backed by 10 promotions, Justin considers himself fortunate to have worked with esteemed brands such as The Oberoi, Hilton, Accor, and currently, Sheraton. He attributes his success to the mentorship of industry stalwarts, who played a pivotal role in shaping and accelerating his professional growth.
In May 2024, Justin was honoured with the prestigious Future Leader of the Year award by Hotelier Middle East. He has also been nominated this year by Sheraton Oman for the esteemed Stephen G. Marriott Award of Excellence for Culture. His credentials include eight certifications from renowned institutions such as Cornell and Harvard, covering industry topics like Global Business, Asset Management and Executive Leadership. Additionally, he has successfully led several cutting-edge projects that have enhanced operational efficiencies and elevated guest satisfaction.
Coming from a family with deep roots in hospitality — his father being a hotelier during the UAE’s formative years — Justin developed an early passion and understanding of the industry’s intricacies. “I am deeply committed to this industry, despite its rigorous demands and intense competition. I look forward to applying the insights gained from the General Managers Track Programme and leading from the front,” he affirms.
