Shura Council’s panel reviews Oman Air voluntary resignation notices

Muscat: The Youth and Human Resources Committee of the Shura Council met this on Monday with affected employees of Oman Air and representatives of the General Federation of Oman Workers to examine the circumstances surrounding the issuance of voluntary resignation notices to a group of employees excluded from the airline's new organisational structure.

During the ninth meeting of the second annual session (2024–2025), the Committee listened to the concerns of employees impacted by the ongoing restructuring at Oman Air.

The discussion focused on the implications of the restructuring, the severance benefits offered to affected employees, and the working conditions within the company.

The meeting also included representatives from the General Federation of Oman Workers, who elaborated on their efforts to address the fallout from Oman Air's decisions.

The Federation shared its perspective on the exclusion of employees from the company’s new structure and highlighted their ongoing advocacy for the workforce.

Discussions extended to potential solutions and demands proposed by the Federation, the details of ongoing legal proceedings, the number of employees affected by the voluntary resignation notices, and the involvement of relevant government authorities in addressing the issue.

Additionally, the Committee engaged with the Federation on the Ministry of Labour’s recent Wage Protection System decision. The dialogue explored the implications of the policy on the workforce and proposed solutions to mitigate any adverse outcomes.

The meeting was chaired by Younis Ali Al Mandhri, Chairman of the Youth and Human Resources Committee, and attended by committee members.
