Student startups annual forum attracts 24 companies

Manah: The first annual student startups forum for the academic year 2024/2025 kicked off on Tuesday at "Oman Across Ages Museum" in the Wilayat of Manah, A’Dakhiliyah Governorate.

Organized under the slogan "Empowerment and Sustainability", the forum saw the participation of 24 student companies representing various branches of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS). The two-day forum aims to highlight the role of youth in the field of entrepreneurship and enhance their innovative talents.

The opening ceremony of the forum was held under the auspices of HH Sayyid Loay Khalid Al Said and attended by Sheikh Hilal Said Al Hajri, Governor of A’Dakhiliyah.

The first day’s programme included three visual presentations, the first of which outlined UTAS role in providing necessary support for student startups; the second was a self-explanatory presentation, titled “Experiences that build the Future”, while the third presentation showcased innovative student projects covering various sectors.

An elite group of experts and entrepreneurs from Oman and abroad participated in the forum. They offered inspiring visions on the future of sustainability of startups.

Towards the end of the ceremony, HH Sayyid Loay felicitated the sponsoring companies and institutions and the participants. Then, he opened an exhibition of student startups that covered the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), renewable energy, the Internet of Things (IoT), agriculture, environment, industry, education, health, sports, community service, oil and gas. The exhibition also included 45 research posters and a special gallery for Muscat Innovation Complex.
