Muscat: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism on Sunday organised a workshop on "Medical and Wellness Tourism in the Sultanate of Oman". The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health.
The workshop aimed to develop a roadmap for launching a model of medical and wellness tourism and promoting it locally, regionally and globally.
The workshop outlined relevant sources, experiences and opportunities on how to encourage tourism and health establishments to showcase their best products and practices. It looked into ways to integrate medical and wellness tourism into streamline services offered by those facilities.
The workshop also studied the readiness of tourist destinations and legal measures related to medical tourism and underlined the best practices and models of health services, investment and tourism promotion.
As part of the workshop, two panel discussions elaborated on the capacity of government hospitals, the readiness of private hospitals to promote medical and wellness tourism and the existing quality of such services, safety standards and necessary authorizations in the Sultanate of Oman.
The workshop was attended by Salim Mohammed Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Heritage and Tourism, and officials from the public and private sectors related to medical tourism in the Sultanate of Oman.
