Muscat: A ceremony was held today in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, to officially handover 26 new housing units to beneficiaries of social housing programs. The project, valued at OMR 1.1 million, was sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah.
Engineer Rehab bint Salem Al Mayahi, Director General of the Directorate General of Social Housing and Projects, emphasized the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning's commitment to providing suitable housing for deserving families and fostering family stability. She highlighted that this project is part of ongoing efforts to advance the social housing sector and meet the needs of families across the Sultanate.
The project in Sarj comprises 26 residential units, each with an area of 183.4 square meters, featuring three bedrooms, a living room, and an external courtyard. An 820-meter asphalt road has been constructed to enhance connectivity within the residential complex.
To promote environmental sustainability, the project incorporates native plant seedlings within the complex, enhancing the green area and contributing to a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment.
During the current year, the Ministry has successfully delivered over 600 housing units to beneficiaries through various programs, including the provision of ready-made units and housing assistance. Additionally, more than 1,300 new housing units are currently under construction across different governorates.
