Brussels: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and King Phillippe Leopold Louis Marie, King of the Belgians exchanged orders and commemorative gifts at the Royal Palace in Brussels today on the occasion of His Majesty’s state visit to the Kingdom of Belgium.
His Majesty the Sultan conferred "Al Said Order" on King Phillippe Leopold Louis Marie and “Oman First Order” on Queen Mathilde Marie Christine Ghislaine, Queen of the Belgians, in commendation for the King of the Belgians and his spouse and in manifestation of the advanced relations of friendship, cooperation and partnership between the two countries and their peoples.
His Majesty also conferred Royal orders on some Belgian officials.
Meanwhile, King Phillippe Leopold Louis Marie awarded His Majesty the Sultan “Order of Leopold”, the highest Belgian order, in commendation of His Majesty the Sultan and in acknowledgment of the two countries' distinguished relations.
The Belgian Monarch also awarded Royal orders to members of the official delegation accompanying His Majesty.
Furthermore, the two leaders exchanged some commemorative gifts.
The ceremony was attended by the official delegations of the two sides and several senior Belgian officials.
