Muscat: Based on the Royal Orders of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Shura Council will, on 10 November 2024, open its second annual sitting (2024-2025) of the Tenth Term (2023-2027), in line with the provisions of Article (41) of the Council of Oman Law (7/2021).
Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary General of the Shura Council, said in a statement that the Shura Council is keeping pace with the national aspirations in the Sultanate of Oman.
“The Shura Council has reinforced its role in promoting the country’s comprehensive development through effective implementation of the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, achieved integration with State institutions and activated community participation in the national decision-making process,” Al Nadabi added.
Speaking about the agenda of the first regular session of the second annual sitting, Al Nadabi said that it will be dedicated to the discussion and endorsement of the draft law on special economic zones and free zones. The bill was forwarded to the Council by the government.
The session will also discuss replies of ministries to queries submitted by the Council members.
During the session, the Council members will be briefed about the draft budget of the State for the Fiscal Year 2025, being studied by the Council’s Economic Committee and Financial Committee.
Al Nadabi pointed out that,as part of ongoing transparency and direct communication with the media,the Council will organize a press gathering on 5 November with media representatives and specialists in legislative affairs. The meeting aims to outline various aspects the Council’s functioning—its legislative roles and its recent developments within the context of Oman Vision 2040 and in line with competencies specified by the Basic Law of the State and the Law of the Council of Oman.
