Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, will preside over the opening of the annual meeting of sovereign wealth funds, hosted by Oman and led by the Oman Investment Authority. The event will see participation from heads and representatives of over fifty sovereign wealth funds from 46 countries worldwide.
The conference, which accompanies the meeting, will feature a range of distinguished speakers at both global and regional levels, making it the largest gathering in the forum's history since its inception in 2009. Among the notable speakers are Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, who will join virtually, Robert Smith, American businessman, Antonio Crassis, CEO of Valor, and Yan Yu, Legal Advisor at the International Monetary Fund.
Topics under discussion will include key global investment trends such as energy transition, artificial intelligence, supply chain management, governance, and the social impact of investment decisions.
The event also presents a valuable platform for senior executives from various sovereign wealth funds to exchange views on current global economic and investment challenges, and to discuss contemporary issues impacting these funds.
The International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds, of which the Oman Investment Authority became a full member in 2015, represents over $8 trillion in assets, accounting for 80 percent of all global sovereign wealth funds.
