Indian embassy in Oman names five agencies to handle nurse recruitment

Muscat: Recruitment of Indian nurses to work abroad can now only be done through three state government agencies and two private agencies recognized by the Indian government, a statement from the Indian embassy in Oman said.
“The Indian government has authorized NORKA Roots in Kerala, Overseas Development and Employment Promotion Consultants in Kerala and Overseas Manpower Corporation Ltd in Chennai for recruitment of Indian nurses for overseas employment,” the embassy said in the statement.
“On August 4, Uttar Pradesh Financial Corporation and Telangana Overseas Manpower Company have also been authorized to engage in recruitment of Indian nurses for employment abroad,” the statement added.
Since 2015, recruitment of nurses from India has been conducted through E-migrate system (www.emigrate.gov.in) to streamline the process of recruitment and make it transparent.
“The embassy may be contacted for any further information and assistance in recruitment of nurses,” the statement added.
Earlier, media reports claimed that India has a capacity to train 79,850 diploma nurses, 41,650 graduate nurses and 1,940 postgraduate nurses per year.
The Indian government has put in place tight controls to streamline recruitment of nurses abroad.
