Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will celebrate on 17 October the Omani Women’s Day in recognition of women’s vital role in the nation’s progress. This year, Omani Women’s Day is themed “Women as Partners in Development.”
This day highlights the contributions of women across many fields, such as politics, economy, culture, and education. It also underscores the role of women in the sustainable development of the Sultanate of Oman.
According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), as of June 2024, 100,450 Omani women are employed in the public sector and 119,593 in the private sector. Meanwhile, as many as 57% artisans are female, according to the NCSI data.
This celebration underscores Omani women’s influence as they contribute in driving forward Oman Vision 2040.
Moreover, the number of females in public schools reached 366,532, while their number in private schools stood at 62,212. Female teacher reached 40,368 in public schools and 6,793 in private schools.
