Muscat: Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, on Monday visited the National Museum as part of his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
The guest and his accompanying delegation toured the museum and listened to a briefing about its halls that showcase the cultural heritage of the Sultanate of Oman. In the Maritime History Hall, the guest took note of documents chronicling the Omani fleet during the era of Sultan Said bin Sultan and artifacts from the wreckage of Vasco da Gama's ship.
PM Roman Golovchenko also toured halls highlighting aspects of Oman's history, including the Civilization Achievements Hall, the Aflaj Hall and the "Greatness of Islam" Hall.
The guest visited a pavilion named "The Dearest and Finest of Men" at the Renaissance Hall. The pavilion is dedicated to the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimour. There, the guest viewed the original copy of "Message No. 1" addressed to the Royal Family Council. He also explored the Al Busaidi Family timeline and a collection of Royal possessions, including notable gifts presented to the late Sultan from leaders of the brotherly and friendly countries.
The Belarusian Prime Minister also later visited the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM). He toured ROHM wings, explored its facilities, annual programme and state-of-the-art equipment used in international musical performances.
During his tour, the Belarusian Prime Minister was briefed about the architectural richness of the Royal Opera House, which houses a blend of Omani cultural heritage, along with architectural influences from different continents of the world.
