115 cases of embezzlement of public funds reported in Oman

Muscat: The State Audit Institution (SAI) reported 115 cases of embezzlement and misuse of public funds in 2023, with several leading to convictions.

Ahmed Salim Al Rujaibi, Deputy Chairman of SAI, pointed out that, in 2023, the SAI handled 115 cases related to public funds, some of which resulted in convictions, penalties and imprisonment for periods ranging from one month to 10 years. He added that the related fines ranged between OMR 200 and OMR 63,000, in addition to subsidiary and complementary penalties.
