Muscat: The State Audit Institution (SAI) has announced the recovery of over OMR 177 million in 2023, reflecting its commitment to promoting transparency and accountability across Oman’s government entities and investments.
In its 2023 Annual Report, submitted to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik by Sheikh Ghuson bin Hilal Al Alawi, Chairman of the SAI, the institution highlighted its critical role in recovering OMR 95 million in 2023, adding to the OMR 82.7 million recovered in 2022. These funds have been transferred back to the State Public Treasury following rigorous audits of financial and administrative activities.
The report was also shared with the Council of Ministers and the State and Shura Councils as part of the provisions of Article (66) of the Basic Statute of the State and Article (29) of the State Audit Law.
