Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will mark next Thursday the Omani Women’s Day, which falls on the 17 October every year. The event is designated this year for the fields of culture, literature and manuscripts.
The celebration will comprise an operetta titled Hawa of Oman ( Omani Woman) and honouring number of leading female personalities in the fields of culture, literature and manuscripts.
Wadha Salim Al Alawi, Director of the Woman Affairs at the Ministry of Social Development said that the celebration of the Omani Women’s Day reflects the Sultanate’s attention and care accorded to the Omani woman and comes in recognition for her contributions to the march of renaissance and comprehensive development in the Sultanate of Oman, and in response to the Royal Directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on boosting the woman’s competence and abilities and for providing the woman with the appropriate opportunities within the Blessed Renaissance March.
She also reaffirmed that the Ministry of Social Development has designated this year’s event for the fields of culture, literature and manuscripts as to showcase the contributions of the Omani woman in these fields in the national, regional and international arena.
She also pointed to the declaration of Muscat as Capital of Arab Women 2024, during the meeting of the 43 rd Session of Arab Woman’s Committee at the Arab League, chaired by Oman at the beginning of 2024. This selection of Muscat as Capital of Arab Women 2024 would showcase the Royal Directives and national efforts for establishment of a motivating environment in the fields of innovation and intellectual property of patents of woman, she said.
