Smart Parking Project launched in Muscat

Muscat: Muscat Municipality in partnership with the private sector has announced the operation of vehicle imaging sensors in paid public parking areas in the Al Khuwair and Al Ghubra areas. 

According to the municipality the initiative aims to promote the shift towards smart and sustainable cities.

The municipality said in an announcement: “Muscat Municipality would like to inform the public that the sensors equipped with the vehicle imaging service will be part of Muscat Municipality's efforts to upgrade its systems towards smart and sustainable cities in partnership with the private sector, Muscat Municipality would like to inform the public that the sensors equipped with the vehicle imaging service will be operational in public parking lots subject to fees in both Al Khuwair and Al Ghubrah areas, starting from Sunday, October 13, 2024.”

Muscat Municipality would like to inform the public that the parking reservation mechanism is through SMS to 90091: By entering the plate number, a space, then the plate code, a space, then the required period in minutes (30,60,120), or Baldiyati application.

Adding that, the beneficiaries can use Muscat Municipality website to serve parking permits for a month or more. Note that the grace period before issui the violation is (5) minutes.
