In a much-anticipated matchup, host school Downe House Muscat made their debut in the T Quiz League, going head-to-head with the winners of Match 1, ABA Oman International School. The host school, represented by an all-girls team—Rania, Jude, and Meera, coached by Ms. Helen Booth—faced off against ABA's all-boys team of Ameer, Aayush, and Abdur, coached by Mr. Andrew Allen.
Match 10 was forfeited by MGPS, and Cheltenham School moved on to the next round.
A Game of Strategy and Knowledge
The competition proved to be fierce as both teams showcased their depth of knowledge and quick reflexes. A series of challenging questions kept the participants on their toes. Among the standout questions were:
"What is the name of the traditional handcrafted Omani wooden chest used to keep clothes and other valuables?" (Answer: Mandoos)
"Which classic board game features a war between two players trying to sink each other’s boats?" (Answer: Battleship)
"Name the art of decorative handwriting which comes from the Greek for 'beautiful writing'?" (Answer: Calligraphy)
The teams demonstrated both skill and strategy as they navigated through the questions, with fortunes shifting between rounds.
Exciting Categories in the Testing Times Round
The high-stakes "Testing Times" round added another layer of intensity, with diverse and thought-provoking categories like "Financial Literacy," "World Airports," "Vile Villains," and a crowd favorite, "Let's Play," where each correct answer contained the word "play."
The T Quiz League continues to be supported by its generous partners, including MHD/INEOS Grenadier, Vodafone, Lulu, Muscat Pharmacy, Malabar Gold, New India Assurance, Oman Oasis, and VOX/Snow Oman/Magic Planet.
