Baku: A number of Omani businessmen and their Azerbaijan counterparts expressed- during their meetings on the sidelines of the second Azerbaijan-GCC Economic Forum, their interest and hope in opening new horizons of cooperation in the economic, commerce and investment fields between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijan - GCC Economic Forum was organised by the Federation of GCC Chambers, in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku.
The meetings discussed the investment opportunities and the promising economic sectors which could offer partnerships between the two sides in the various fields, mainly in renewable energy, transport, logistics services, agriculture and food industries among others. The meetings also reviewed the business environment, procedures, incentives and facilities offered by both sides for investors mainly at the economic zones, the free zones, industrial cities and ports.
Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) said that Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry aspires through the meetings between the Omani
businessmen and their counterparts of other countries to acquaint them with the necessary informant and procedures, the laws and regulations, the support and consultancy services of the Omani companies interested in entering other international markets, notably these of Azerbaijan.
He said that the level of economic relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Azerbaijan is yet to upgrade to the level the two countries aspire for. He also pointed to that a trade delegation from the Republic of Azerbaijan would visit the Sultanate during the upcoming stage to acquaint with the business environment, the investment opportunities and the promising economic sectors.
Rashid bin Amer Al Maslahi, First Deputy to the Chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) said that such meetings offered the opportunities for the two sides to acquaint with the promising opportunities in each country. He hoped that such opportunities would contribute to entering into partnerships between the private sector of the Sultanate of Oman and that of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
