Muscat: Kuwait is likely to increase the gasoline prices for expatriates in line with global market trends, according to a report in the Kuwait times.
“It is unreasonable for expatriates and visitors to the country, whose numbers are double that of citizens, to benefit from gasoline at such low prices,” said a government source.
According to Al Qabas newspaper source, the price increase would exclude citizens and only apply to expatriates. Additionally, the government would provide financial support to citizens for fuel consumption, shielding them from the impact of any price hike, added the Kuwait Times.
The source said that the increase and its rate are currently under review and will soon be presented to the Economic Affairs Committee for approval.
