Foreign Minister meets officials on sidelines of UNGA 79

New York: Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister met Dr. Rashad Al Alimi,Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council in the Republic of Yemen. This meeting came on the sidelines of Sayyid Badr’s participation in deliberations of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 79) held in New York today.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the historical, cordial relations between the two countries. They affirmed their support for all efforts to achieve security and stability in Yemen. They also expressed their hope that the efforts made would contribute to reaching a consensual political solution to the Yemeni issue that maintains Yemen's independence, territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Sayyid Badr also met Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. The two ministers discussed the bilateral relations. They stressed the need to follow up the activation of the outcomes of the Omani-Algerian Joint Committee and continue cooperation in various vital fields that bring more mutual benefits.

The two ministers also reviewed a range of regional and international issues of common concern. They underscored the importance of continuing coordination and consultation in the context of international forums to back Arab and Islamic issues. They pledged to support the role of the United Nations in pushing towards achieving international peace and security.

Sayyid Badr also met Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway. The two sides discussed means of promoting the bilateral cooperation particularly in areas of renewable energy, environment protection, sustainable development and food, medicine and water security. They stressed the importance of continuing close coordination in these areas within the framework of the growing bilateral relations between the Sultanate of Oman and Norway.

The two sides also agreed on the need to support multilateral international dialogue and cooperation to find peaceful solutions to regional and global conflicts. They affirmed the principles and values ​​stipulated in the United Nations Charter to achieve justice, peace and prosperity for all.

Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister also met Dr. Mohamed Osman Maliki, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Foreign Affairs and Second Minister for Education of the Republic of Singapore.

During the meeting, the two ministers stressed their mutual keenness to follow up the outcomes of the historic visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik Al Said to the Republic of Singapore last December. They also affirmed to continue the strategic dialogue between the two countries, and cooperation in various fields, including the digital economy, innovation, energy, education, and advanced technology.

The two ministers also stressed the importance of promoting the values ​​of dialogue, justice and respect in order to resolve differences and disputes through peaceful means and to support the essential role of diplomacy in bringing viewpoints closer together and achieving understanding.

Sayyid Badr also met Battsetseg Batmunkh, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Mongolia. The two ministers explored an array of opportunities for bilateral cooperation to serve relations of friendship and trade between the two countries and promote for investment opportunities, trade and tourism exchange.

On the level of international action within the framework of the current session of the United Nations General Assembly, the two ministers exchanged views and consultations on a range of topics and issues of common interest.
