Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman has welcomed the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the draft resolution on the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice on the legal consequences of Israeli policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
The Foreign Ministry added: “The Sultanate of Oman considers this decision a pivotal step in supporting the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, most notably their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
The Sultanate of Oman also stressed the need for the international community to adhere to the principles of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions, in a way that contributes to ending the Israeli occupation and achieving a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East region.
