Grand Mufti praises Amerat Club's withdrawal from tournament involving Israel

Muscat: His Eminence Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalili, the Grand Mufti of Oman, has commended Amerat Club for its decision to withdraw from an international sports competition that included an Israeli team.

In a statement, the Grand Mufti said, "We were very pleased with Amerat Club’s decision to withdraw from an international sports competition where a team from the Zionist entity participated. The club chose to stand in solidarity with the oppressed people in Gaza and Palestine, making an honorable decision. We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the club and its management for this principled stance."

He further emphasized the importance of solidarity among Arab and Islamic nations, stating, "Our joy is further deepened by the growing awareness among the youth of our nation. The Islamic and Arab brotherhood calls for cooperation and unity, to mobilize all efforts and means to confront this barbaric entity that disregards international conventions and human rights. It is crucial for Arabs and Muslims to unite and confront this entity on all platforms to ensure it is humiliated, defeated, and does not rise again."

The Grand Mufti urged Arab and Islamic societies, along with international movements, to adopt a similar approach. "We call on societal forces and official bodies in Arab and Islamic countries to follow this path in their respective fields. We also urge free movements worldwide to strengthen their stance against this entity with all the capabilities at their disposal."

Amerat Club recently announced its decision to withdraw from the Beach Soccer Club World Cup, which is set to take place in Italy in the coming days. The withdrawal followed widespread calls from the Omani public, who demanded the club refuse to compete against the Israeli team, Rosh HaAyin, in solidarity with the Palestinian cause and the people of Gaza, who have endured nearly a year of conflict.
