Muscat: The inaugural "Marhaba Dhofar" event, organized by the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, is set to commence on Monday, September 16, 2024, with the participation of key tourism sector stakeholders from both the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The multi-day event will host 40 Saudi tourism companies and 13 prominent media professionals from leading Saudi institutions. Attendees will embark on field trips to some of Dhofar’s most iconic tourist destinations, including the scenic beaches of Salalah, the lush green mountains, and the region’s rich heritage and archaeological sites, which reflect the depth of Omani history and civilization.
Aimed at strengthening tourism cooperation between Oman and Saudi Arabia, "Marhaba Dhofar" seeks to showcase Dhofar Governorate's unique offerings, such as the "Sarb" season and winter tourism. The event aligns with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism's strategy to bolster connections with regional tourism markets and highlight the diverse experiences Oman offers to international visitors.
In addition to the tours, the event will feature discussion sessions and bilateral meetings between Omani and Saudi tourism companies, fostering the exchange of expertise and exploring collaborative opportunities to further develop the tourism sector.
Participants will also have the chance to explore Oman’s growing reputation as a destination for adventure, relaxation, and conference and exhibition tourism.
