Muscat: The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (Sezad) launched a training programme focused on attracting and developing strategic foreign direct investment (FDI).
The programme is being implemented by the Institutional Transformation Team at the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz), in cooperation with a world-renowned Irish consultancy specialising in this field.
The programme aims to achieve excellence in attracting investors to the Special Economic Zone at Duqm by providing supportive facilities for investment attraction and post-investment care for investors.
The training focuses on several key issues, particularly the importance of FDI in economic growth, creating job opportunities, and increasing the gross domestic product (GDP).
It also highlights the role of proactive strategies in attracting FDI.
Additionally, the programme covers how to develop and build compelling value propositions for investors, methods and strategies to target investors, and how to manage current foreign investors with the goal of business expansion and maximising growth.
Emphasis is placed on ensuring the smooth and efficient provision of competitive and distinguished services to investors, ensuring their satisfaction, meeting their expectations, and supporting the sustainability of their projects.
The programme includes the presentation of various statistics and indicators related to FDI projects globally, along with an overview of best international practices in attracting and localising foreign investors, as well as how to provide post-service care.
This initiative is part of the Institutional Transformation Program carried out by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, aiming to activate the Authority’s role in transferring knowledge and empowering its employees to attract more local and global investments.
Previously, the Institutional Transformation Team implemented several training programmes to enhance the employees’ abilities in attracting investments.
