Muscat: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology has issued a safety alert for owners and operators of jet-skis and recreational marine units. The alert outlines several measures to ensure a safe environment for customers.
The Ministry said in a statement :"Dear Owner/Operator of jet skis and recreational marine units to provide a safe environment for your customers please adhere to the following:-
1. No riding after sunset: Jet skis and marine sports units cannot be used after sunset.
2. Life jackets: Life jackets must be provided to all customers.
3. Communication: A means of communication for emergencies should be available.
4. Designated area: Riding is restricted to designated areas.
5. Rescue and first aid: A rescue crew and first aid kit must be on site.
6. Capacity limit: A maximum of eight bikes is allowed in one location.
7. Risk prevention: Monitoring and prevention of risky behavior are necessary.
8. Weather check: Weather conditions should be checked before use.
9. Emergency boat: A water bike or boat should be available for emergencies.
10. Age restriction: Individuals under 16 cannot ride water bikes or marine units unless accompanied by an adult.
By adhering to these guidelines, owners and operators can help to ensure the safety of their customers and prevent accidents.
