In reflection of the institutional partnership in raising the efficient use of resources, and in light of the keenness of State Audit Institution to promote professional competencies relevant to its responsibilities, the training program “Sustainability of Government Investments in the Governorates” is launched on Tuesday 10th of September 2024, addressing the first group in Dhofar Governorate, with the participation of General Directors, specialist from internal audit units and employees concerned with project and investment management in a number of the units of State Administrative Apparatus in the Governorate. the program will be implemented for three consecutive days in the lecture hall at Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah and will be delivered by SAI specialists.
The Program is opened under the patronage of Younis Al Toobi, the Director General of the Directorate General of Financial & Administrative Audit in Dhofar Governorate, in the presence of a number of SAI specialists.
The Program aims at enabling participants to understand the strategic direction of sustaining investment and development in the Governorates, and building professional capacities in evaluating and following up investments, in addition to promoting the capabilities of employees in detecting fraud and corruption in the development projects, as well as dealing with public fund crimes.
The program includes several themes that are reviewed through some practical cases, such national priorities for the development of the Governorates, which have been aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development goals. In addition to reviewing economic decentralization and local governance of investments, as well as discussing issues related to measuring and evaluating investment performance and aspects of fraud and corruption therein.
The program is concluded with a review of the legal frameworks regulating the development projects and the significant aspects contained therein, and reviewing the mechanism for auditing them and detecting possible irregularities, as well as reviewing the legal procedures followed in dealing with public fund crimes.
