Muscat: The Oman national football team is set to take on South Korea in Muscat on Tuesday following the 1-0 defeat against Iraq on Thursday in the opening game of the Group B of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Asian Qualifiers third round.
The South Korea national team arrived in Muscat after playing against Palestine in Qatar.
The match ended in a 0-0 draw in their opening Group C match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The Oman Football Association (OFA) has announced the launch of VIP tickets for the national team’s first home and second match in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, which will be played on September 10 against South Korea.
Tickets are available at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex Bausher from Sunday between 9 am and 12 pm.
Despite a spirited performance, Oman lost to hosts Iraq 1-0 in Basraon Thursday.
The all-important goal was scored early in the match when Aymen Hussein found the target in the 13th minute of the match.
The goal came off a corner kick with Hussein nodding in a powerful header to beat Oman custodian Ibrahim Al Mukhaini.
Oman, coached by Czech Jaroslav Silhavy, tried hard to get the equaliser, but a sturdy Iraqi defence thwarted a series of raids to pick up crucial three points.
Oman's Arshad Al Alawi was shown the red card in the injury time (95th min) of the match.
