Xue Fei clinches Men’s singles title in WTT Feeder Muscat 2024

Muscat: Chinese paddler Xue Fei defeated Japanese Ryoichi YOSHIYAMA by 3-1 to snatch the men’s singles title in the WTT Feeder Muscat 2024 late on Sunday at main hall of Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. The World Ranking No. 270 delivered an impressive in the final clash to end the tournament in a successful note. Despite Ryoichi’s leading in the first set of the game by 11-9, Fei bounce back strongly as he scored 6-11 win in the following set and he won the third set as well by 5-11. He confirmed the triumph in the fourth set by 9-11.

 

Oman Table Tennis Association(OTTA) in direct coordination with WTT concluded the four days event of WTT Feeder Muscat 2024 which took place in Muscat since Thursday and concluded on Sunday with nearly 100 participants representing various countries across the world. The paddlers were from China, Japan, Chinese Taipei, India, Pakistan, France, Germany, Syria, Iran, Egypt, Italy, Yemen and Oman. They competed in various categories including Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

 

Chinese YANG Yiyun managed to earn Women’s singles title after she beat Sakura YOKOI from Japan by 3-0 ( 5-11, 7-11, 11-13) while French duo’s Bastien REMBERT and Joe SEYFRIED beat Chinese’s duo YUAN Licen and XIANG Peng by 3-1 (8-11, 8-11, 11-6, 9-11) to clinch the Men’s double event title. The Chinese dominance were continued as Chinese duo comprised from FAN Shuhan and XU Yi blanked their teammates YANG Yiyun ZHU Sibing by 3-1 (11-4, 8-11, 11-5, 11-9) to earn with the Women’s double title. Chinese pair comprised from XUE Fei and WANG Xiaotong defeated their teammates YUAN Licen and ZONG Geman from Chinese team by 3-2 ( 11-5, 11-4, 10-12, 9-11, 11-3).

 

Following the conclusion of all the final matches across various categories, Abdullah Mohammed Bamakhalif, Chairman of OTTA, along with members of the board, presented awards to the winners. The chief of OTTA delivered the top finishers in the Men's Singles category while Sajad Mohammed Baqir, Vice Chairman and Masoud al Shaqsi, board member, awarded the top performers in the Women's Singles category. Adil al Balushi, the Secretary-General and Mohammed al Jassasi, board member, presented the awards to Men's Doubles category. Maryam al Alawi, board member, honored the winners of the Women's Doubles category while Mohammed l Oufi, the association's treasurer, presented the medals to winners of the Mixed Doubles category.

Abdullah Bamakhalif, OTTA Chairman, thanked all the board members, organizers, and volunteers for their tremendous efforts in making WTT Feeder Muscat 2024 on a success note. “ This event is part of our annual commitment to host two international championships as the second competitive international event scheduled for late October and early November which will feature top-ranked global players." He added

 

Bamakhalif also highlighted the numerous positive aspects of this year's championship, including live television broadcasts on foreign channels, attracting more international players to Oman, promoting table tennis in the country and providing a competitive environment for Omani players to improve their skills. “ WTT Feeder offered opportunities for our local players to compete with international talents and gain valuable experience. Special thanks to all our partners and supporters especially the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth as well as private sector sponsors and media representatives,” he concluded.
