Muscat: The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision, holds a two-day educational meeting for senior supervisors of various academic subjects.
The opening ceremony of the annual meeting was patronised by Saif Al-Julandani, Director-General of the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision.
This annual meeting targets more than 240 participants from supervisors from the Ministry’s General Diwan and the educational directorates in the governorates.
This meeting comes from the keenness of the Directorate-General of Educational Supervision to provide professional support to supervisory categories, including senior supervisors, and to keep pace with the rapid developments in the field of education in general, and educational supervision in particular, and to achieve the objectives of the Directorate’s five-year plan, which includes activating the methodology of educational supervision teams, in which the senior supervisor is an important element.
The meeting included, on its first day, a training session presented by an expert in the field of training from the Queen Rania Training Academy, in which she discussed support methodologies in supervisory practices, between directed and non-directed control practices.
This training session aims to define the concepts of supervisory practices, educational support, and to provide a model for each practice according to the nature of the teacher, the context, and the teacher’s previous knowledge.
The second day of the program includes specialized meetings for each subject with the senior supervisors in the educational directorates, with the participation of specialists from curricula, evaluation, and training, addressing some aspects related to supervision, in addition to reviewing the latest developments in evaluation and curricula, and some of the observations made in these aspects to work on finding practical solutions for them.
A set of training working papers is also presented. In the second period of the day, Prof. Dr. Abdullah bin Khamis Ambosaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Education, meets with the participants in a discussion session to exchange dialogue about their observations; to provide them with some guidance and visions that can help the senior supervisors in developing technical work in the educational directorates in the governorates.
The meeting aims to develop the capabilities of senior supervisors and their skills in building supervisory work plans, following up on their implementation, measuring their impact, exchanging experiences, skills, and development ideas to improve the work environment, enabling them to carry out their roles and job responsibilities, and enhancing the spirit of positive work and working within one team to develop supervisory performance.
