Muscat : The Tourism Hub Centre at the Muttrah Waterfront in Muscat Governorate plays a vital role in providing information and guiding visitors to the most importnat heritage sites and diverse tourist destinations in the Sultanate of Oman.
They answer their queries and provide them with the necessary information about tourism companies and hotels, in addition to, heritage and entertainment activities and events for visitors to explore them.
The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism stated that the number of visitors to the Tourism Hub Centre since its opening on January 1, 2024 until mid-August of this year amounted to more than 6,000.
The centre received multiple inquiries from visitors, focusing on tourist sites and services in Muscat Governorate, traditional markets, transportation and communication directions, and recommendations for eating, in addition to helping them book trips or tours and cruises in Muscat, or nearby areas.
Hana bint Salem Al Bahrani, Head of the Heritage and Cultural Tourism Department and Supervisor of the Tourism Hub Centre in the Wilayat of Muttrah, said that the centre provides a variety of tourism materials such as brochures, leaflets, tourist guide cards and tourist maps in addition to information related to museums, companies providing tourism services and hotels.
Al Bahrani added that the centre promotes events and activities held in various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman throughout the year, and works to collect visitors' comments related to tourism aspects to improve their services.
Al Bahrani confirmed that the department concerned with operating and managing the centre is in the process of launching electronic forms to be filled by tourists which have questions related to the tourism and another form to measure the visitors' satisfaction with the information and services provided by the centre, in addition to a form for employees working at the centre to count the number of visitors and their nationalities.
The Head of the Heritage and Cultural Tourism Department and Supervisor of the Tourism Hub Center in the Wilayat of Muttrah indicated that the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has recently completed the preparation of maps and designs related to the establishment of tourist hub centres in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. It is awaiting final approvals from the relevant government agencies to begin the implementation phase with a focus on applying the best sustainable practices in the tourism sector.
