Russia honours Omani member of UN body  for work on continental shelf boundaries

New York: The Russian Federation has awarded the “Order of Friendship” to Dr. Adnan Rashid Al Azri, member of the United Nations' Commission on Limits of the Continental Shelf (CLCS) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Commission’s activities.

The honorary medal was presented on behalf of the Russian President by Alexander Kozlov, Russian Federation’s Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology.

During the ceremony, held at the Russian Mission to the United Nations in New York, Kozlov commended Dr. Adnan Al-Azri’s active role in enhancing international cooperation in the field of continental shelf boundaries.

Al Azri's felicitation reflects the advanced relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation, said Kozlov, adding that the gesture also embodies international appreciation for Oman's efforts in global events.

It is worth noting that Dr. Adnan Al Azri played a key role in a number of important projects and initiatives aimed to consolidate scientific concepts and strengthen ties between member states.
