Muscat: Mwasalat, which has played a crucial role in shaping and enhancing the public transportation landscape in Oman, plans to install Real Time Passenger Information (RTPI) Systems at bus stations and bus stops across the Sultanate of Oman.
For this, Mwasalat has floated a tender for the supply and installation of RTPI, including backend solutions with support and maintenance.
The last date for tender document distribution is fixed for August 28.
In a tender announcement, Mwasalat said that this initiative aims to enhance public transportation services through innovative smart solutions.
RTPI screens will be installed at selective bus stations and standalone bus stops in accordance with operational requirements and as specified in the tender documents.
Mwasalat has transported more than 4.5 million passengers in 2023, a 40 percent increase over 2022’s figure when it served 3.2 million passengers, according to the data.
With over 11,700 daily passengers, the government-run company transported 4,271,732 passengers across the Sultanate.
Mwasalat’s ferry service transported over 236,986 passengers compared to 221,000 in 2022.
The company has been working on improving its infrastructure and expanding its transport network to meet the increasing needs of passengers to various parts of Oman.
