Muscat: Great news for photography enthusiasts in the Sultanate of Oman! The upcoming supermoon tonight, August 19th promises to be a spectacular sight.
The supermoon phenomenon occurs when the moon is in the full moon phase, and is at perigee (its closest point to the Earth in its orbit), where the distance is 363,187 kilometers, and thus the moon will appear 14 percent larger than usual.
Timing is everything, the moon will appear largest and brightest right after sunset, towards the east. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture this stunning celestial event.
Location matters, so find a spot with a clear view of the eastern horizon for the best shots.
Despite the term "blue moon," the moon won't appear blue in color.
Potential Photo Ideas:
Silhouette shots: Capture the moon rising behind iconic Muscat landmarks.
Moon and landscape: Combine the moon with the beautiful Omani scenery for dramatic shots.
Close-ups: Use a telephoto lens to capture detailed shots of the moon's surface.
Oman Astronomical Society said :"Get ready today to watch the supermoon, as we will see its apparent size 14 percent larger. Look towards the east at sunset and enjoy the beauty of this scene."
