ISM unveils a commemorative plaque to celebrate Golden Jubilee

Muscat: The dawn of 2024 heralded a historic moment for Indian School Muscat (ISM) as it embarked on a year-long celebration marking its 50th anniversary.

This landmark event was further elevated by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, symbolising the school’s rich legacy and its unwavering commitment to future generations.

The inaugural ceremony, held on the school’s campus, was graced by dignitaries -- the honourable Chief Guest His Excellency Shri Amit Narang, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate of Oman, the Guest of Honour, Dr Siva Kumar Manickam, Chairman, Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, esteemed Directors of Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman, Members of the School Management Committee, other distinguished dignitaries, Principal, Mr Rakesh Joshi, Senior Vice-Principal, Vice-Principals of various sections, Asst. Vice-Principals of various sections, HODs of various sections, esteemed guests, teachers, parents and students.

On this momentous occasion, the Principal, Rakesh Joshi briefed the gathering with the opulent history of ISM.

He highlighted the school’s journey from its modest beginnings in 1975 to its current status as one of the largest and most respected educational institutions in the Gulf region.

A special Golden Jubilee video was also screened, taking the audience on a visual journey through the school’s history, its milestones, and the countless memories etched in the hearts of those who have walked its halls.

He delved deep to pay tribute to all the principals, teachers and support staff who have been the steady pillars and contributed to making the ISM of now.

ISM’s journey is a testament to the vision of its founders, the dedication of its staff, and the unwavering support of the Indian community in Oman.

From its inception, the school has strived to foster not only academic excellence but also creativity and character building.
The institution’s commitment to holistic development where students are equipped with the 21st century skills and values necessary for success in a globalized world remains steadfast.

The ISM@50 anthem, a soulful rendition composed & created by the performing arts department and beautifully performed by the school choir was a stellar performance and a cherry on the cake. The buddying musicians and the singers mesmerized everyone present.

In his address, the Guest of Honour, Dr Siva Kumar Manickam, Chairman Board of Directors of Indian Schools in Oman shared his reflections.

He mentioned that ISM has been a shining example of knowledge to the Indian diaspora in Muscat, Oman for five decades. From its humble beginning, ISM has evolved into an institute of remarkable repute which is a significant milestone deserving accolades.

It stands as a symbol of pride, achievement, and the collective effort of all those who have cemented its glory.

He congratulated the school for achieving this milestone and wished the best for all future endeavours.
