Ministry of Education signs pact to finance hall at Al Amal School for the Deaf

Muscat: The Ministry of Education and Mitsui E&P Middle East signed an agreement on Sunday to support and finance the establishment of a sensory and visual interaction hall at Al Amal School for the Deaf in Al Khuwair.

The agreement was signed by Majid bin Said Al Bahri, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs, and Nasser bin Ali Al Kindi, General Manager of the company.

The signing of the agreement was attended by Dr. Shanoona Al Habsi, Assistant Director-General for Special Education at the Directorate-General of Special Education and Continuous Learning, Mohammed Al Harbi, principal of Al Amal School for the Deaf, Ashraf Al Harbi, member of the main team of the Initiatives Support Committee, Saja Al Zadjali, Personal Assistant to the General Manager of the company, and Salem Al Harthi, Deputy Director of Operations Department at the company.
The signing of the agreement took place at the Ministry’s General Diwan.

The hall contributes to enhancing the development of sensory skills among students with special needs, and providing a stimulating educational environment for them through the tools and devices it contains.

This in turn contributes to enhancing learning, evaluation, and rehabilitation of people with special needs who suffer from functional disorders.

The Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs stated: “This agreement stems from the interest of the Ministry of Education in creating a multi-sensory educational environment designed to develop the senses and control sensory stimulation, according to an educational and therapeutic approach for students with special needs in a manner that is consistent with their sensory, cognitive, motor and social abilities, and contributes to improving their concentration and developing their various skills and abilities.”

“It is also based on the principle of partnership between the Ministry and private sector institutions that the Ministry has signed this agreement with the company to support and finance the establishment of the hall, which will include many physical therapy tools and equipment, and sensory devices, which have been globally approved as enhanced tools to develop the sensory skills of students with special needs.”

“It is hoped that this hall will play a major role in providing this category of students with appropriate communication skills with the surrounding community, making them feel satisfied and psychologically stable, and helping them strengthen their senses. We extend our sincere thanks to Mitsui E&P Middle East for its kind and appreciated efforts and support for the Ministry in this field, stressing the importance of the partnership between the Ministry and private sector institutions, as it has a significant impact on improving the quality of education services,” he further added.
