Sur Marine Sports Festival to be organised from 18 August

Sur: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and the Office of the Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, in cooperation with a number of government departments and private sector establishments, will organise Sur Marine Sports Festival from 18 August to 28 August 2024 at Mokha Beach in the Wilayat of Sur.

The event will be organised as part of the executive programme of Sur as Capital of Arab Tourism 2024.

The event aims to showcase the tourism value of the Wilayat of Sur in particular and the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah in general. The tourism value of Sur and the South Al Sharqiyah governorate stems from the historic role of the Wilayat of Sur as a cultural communication centre through its deep-rooted marine history.

The festival attracts visitors from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman. The festival would see the holding of Oman Sailing Championship 2024 and its competitions in four categories, including professional and junior sailors and Elka 4 and Elka 6 boats. The event includes kitesurfing, swimming contests, and traditional rowing boat competitions which would provide the festival’s visitors with amazing sailing experiences.

 The festival also includes an exhibition for SMEs and handicrafts, food trucks and different entertainment activities.
