Labour Forum discusses implementation of sustainable development goals

Salalah: The Labour Forum, titled “Together We Work...Together We Innovate and Prosper,” discusses issues related to the labour market, in addition to examining the best ways to improve it.

More than 400 international experts, specialists and investors from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman take part in the forum, which continues until 29 August 2024.

The forum, organised by the Ministry of Labour and opened at the Millennium Salalah Hotel today, under the patronage of Dr. Mahad Said Ba’Owain, Minister of Labour, also discusses the system of vocational guidance and counselling in the Arab world.

It also explores the role of vocational guidance and counselling in implementing the sustainable development goals (SDGs), new patterns of work and their role in enhancing competitive capabilities.

The forum’s programme includes a meeting the Minister of Labour and a number of business owners to explore the future and prospects of work and strengthening the market with new tributaries that absorb human capital.

The forum will also witness holding an artificial intelligence forum to discuss the impact of technological developments on the future of work and the challenges and opportunities of new work patterns.

A conference will be also organised on entrepreneurship, employment policies and localisation on the sidelines of the forum to discuss the importance of job localisation for the national economy, and reviewing successful models of the experience of job localisation in the private sector, sustainable employment, entrepreneurship and innovation, in addition to organising a seminar on career guidance and counselling.

The forum includes 12 dialogue sessions with the participation of 40 speakers, reviewing a spectrum of main topics, including human resources development, promoting entrepreneurship, supporting the economy and social responsibility, in addition to reviewing a decent work environment and the directions of Oman Vision 2040.

The forum aims to stimulate innovation and professional development by showcasing modern technologies and innovations in the labour market aimed at augmenting productivity, enhancing social dialogue and professional communication by creating constructive cooperation between specialists and those interested in the labour market.

It also aims at improving labour and regulatory policies to enhance the regulatory framework of the labour market to meet economic, technological and social developments, and promoting international and regional cooperation by expanding the scope of cooperation with international and regional partners to exchange expertise, experiences and knowledge.
