Muscat: A significant step towards the Sultanate of Oman's digital transformation has been taken with the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Labour and Omantel.
The partnership aims to train and qualify 86 university graduates in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence, IoT and data science.
This initiative underscores Oman's commitment to developing a skilled workforce and building a knowledge-based economy. By investing in its youth, Oman is positioning itself as a leader in the digital age.
His Excellency Dr. Mahad bin Said Baawain, Minister of Labor, said that the ministry seeks, through this partnership with Omantel, to qualify graduates to train them in a number of future skills that will respond to the needs of the modern labor market, which will have a significant impact in enabling program members to compete for a group of jobs in the future, especially those that require such Skills.
For his part, Talal bin Said Al Mamari, CEO of Omantel, said that the agreement with the Ministry of Labour will enable Omantel to contribute to supporting the efforts made to develop the skills of Omani youth and provide them with the skills required in the labor market. This agreement embodies the role expected from Omantel Academy in supporting national efforts and achieving the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and the National Programme for the Digital Economy, noting that the Academy works to develop and raise the efficiency of its various program members by focusing on specific technical skills such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
It is worth noting that Omantel Academy was established this year and is concerned with developing functional skills, future skills and the most efficient modern technologies that are in line with the rapid technological development such as virtual simulation, big data analysis, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
